This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.

When the Cricut Maker launched, it changed the way I craft forever. It’s unique design instantly opened up SO many new options, especially in felt, fabric, and thicker materials than was ever available before. We get asked quite often which Cricut machine is the best, or which one we recommend and if you’re a DIY Bride, a DIY Mama, or just a craft enthusiast, it’s always the Cricut Maker…. here’s why:

Your Biggest Cricut Maker Questions Answered

What Makes The Maker Different From Other Cricut Machines?

The biggest difference between the Cricut Maker and other Cricut machines is the Adaptive Tool System that allows for unique and professional-level cutting tools to be swapped in and out with ease. It has 10X the strength and cutting force of any Cricut Explore, which is HUGE. You can use all the quick-swap housing tools and it famously comes with the Rotary Blade, more on blades later. It cuts 300+ materials from tissue paper to leather! Whether you need it for tiny intricate paper cuts or to glide through fabric, it handles any material with built-in precision. Basically it is the strongest and smartest Cricut there is, with no comparison.

What Kind Of Blades Does It Use?

What kind of blades does the Cricut Maker use, the best kind, haha, no but really. This machine can use all of the Cricut blades, including of course the blades that are exclusive to the Maker, like the one’s pictures below. The Rotary Blade, the Scoring Wheel, the Knife Blade, and the Perforation Blade just happen to be my favorites. Anything with that “gold gear” is exclusive to the Maker.

  • Rotary Blade: for precision fabric cutting
  • Fine Point + Deep Point Blades: for precision paper, vinyl, and iron-on, and more
  • Knife Blade: for wood, leather, chipboard, ShrinkyDink
  • Perforation Blade: for perforating paper! it’s SO fun!
  • Wavy Blade: cuts waves, so cool!
  • Debossing Tip and Engraving Tips: amazing new additions!
  • Single + Double Scoring Wheels: for perfect paper folds!

What Materials Can I Cut?

The Cricut Maker can cut almost any material as long as it’s 3/32″ (or 2.4mm) thick or less, minus metal stock. Amazing right!? The overall cutting size is limited to 11.5″ x 23.5″, which really is the Maker’s only limitation. I cut everything on my Maker; paper, cardstock, ShrinkyDink film, acetate, leather, vinyl, iron-on, chipboard, fabric, felt, wood, sticker paper, and so much more! My 2-year-old daughter comes running when she hears it cutting because she loves watching it.

Will It Be Easy For Me To Learn The Software To Make Projects?

Design Space is VERY intuitive. However, I do recommend watching the basic Design Space YouTube videos from Cricut’s page to help you understand each tool. After your first 5 projects, you’ll start to find your rhythm. After your first 10 projects, you’ll start to make computer keystrokes without thinking about it. After 15 projects, you’ll start to really see it’s customization potential. After 20 projects, you’ll be whipping things out left and right… from there the sky is the limit. You can use the free program on your desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone and you can save your work in the cloud to work from anywhere!

If you are making your house into a custom home, it’s YOU! If you are a mama who loves to make things extra special for her kiddos, it’s YOU! If cutting fabric, leather, chipboard, and acetate is enticing, it’s YOU! I have yet to hear of one person who regrets their Maker purchase… as I said in the beginning, it changed the way I craft forever and I know it can do the same for you!
