It can be challenging finding toys that are personal and meet the developmental needs of your child. Hey hey, I’m Carli from Hein and Dandy, a blog all about DIY and life! Recently my baby has not been able to see our family with travel restrictions and other reasons so I wanted to make sure that she would be able to know who they are. I admit that my baby Bria had no idea at 7 months how to get the shapes back into the right puzzle piece but someday soon she will! This DIY tutorial will help your baby learn shapes, cognitive skills, and family members! Even dogs(if you are so blessed to have doggies too!) Let’s get started!
SUPPLIES:
- Wood Puzzle
- Canon Printer
- Photo Printer Paper
- Mod Podge
- Pen
- Scissors
- Paint Brush
- Family Pictures
I used my Canon printer to print on a 8.5 x 11 inch piece of photo paper. When making your family face collage, make sure that there is at least a 2 inch face area as most the shapes are around that size!
Trace
Place the shapes over the faces to figure out which shapes fit best. Outline with a Sharpie marker making sure not to get any on the wood blocks.
Cut
Cut around your trace.
Mod Podge
Use your paint brush to Mod Podge the pictures into the puzzle.
First layer of Mod Podge on the wood intentation on the puzzle. Place the photo in the hole and use your finger to smooth any bubbles out. Finally add the last layer of Mod Podge over the entire photo. Repeat for all 9 shapes.

Time to Play
