Bring some pastries or cupcakes to your shindig including your shimmery DIY food picks or dessert toppers made with gold party foil! Not only are these easy to make, we’re providing the FREE graphics for you to upload and cut yourself! It’s a fab last minute project that you can do under 10 minutes, and your gal pals will totally appreciate the thoughtful touch.

Cricut Party Foil Cupcake Toppers

Maker’s Note

Party foil is a very slippery material, and in some cuts, my “Gal Pals” was coming off of the mat when doing my project prototypes. Be sure to really rub that foil onto your StrongGrip mat. You can use your hands or a brayer, but be prepared to keep an eye on your project as it cuts with your machine just in case it needs a little rub while cutting “Gal Pals”!

This material also will show fingerprints, but use your fingers or anti-static cloth to rub the smudges away! Avoid any scratchy fabrics.

Not finding the party foil color you want? You can do this project with any material you like! Cardstock, adhesive foil on cardstock, or thick shimmery paper to name a few.

CUT & PEEL

Place the amount of party foil you need on your StrongGrip cutting mat and let your machine do the work! Remember to rub the foil onto the mat with your fingers or brayer to make sure it doesn’t lift while it’s being cut. Once your words are cut, carefully peel the toppers away from the mat.

ADD THOSE TOOTHPICKS

Now that you have your toppers cut, place one toothpick on one of your glue dots. Carefully roll the toothpick across the glue dot, so it makes like a little toothpick burrito, and then adhere the glue dot-covered toothpick to the back bottom of your party foil cut-out!

Maker’s Note

I tried double-sided tape and a hot glue gun to get these on the toothpick, but party foil is a slick one! All adhesives I tried were ineffective or just plain messy! Glue dots are perfectly neat and extra sticky. Believe, this will be your new favorite crafting adhesive if you haven’t used it before! Glue dots on all the things!
