“Liz and Josh celebrated the start of their marriage at Historic Smithonia Farm in Colbert, Georgia. Since these two met at UGA in Athens, a location close to their alma matter was the perfect choice. Touches of their love for UGA (Go Dawgs!) were embedded in many parts of their wedding day from their custom koozies to their “It’s Saturday in Athens” reception entrance. It was truly a fun day full of celebration at every turn! More importantly these two found time during their wedding day to pray together, say personal vows, and speak truth into each other’s lives.” –Amanda Olivia Photography

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

My favorite part of our wedding day was our ceremony. Josh and I decided that we wanted to do the traditional vows but also take the time to speak to each other in front of all our friends and family. We decided to write love letters to each other and then to end, we wrote some promises to each other that we each said to one another. It was the best decision and it was the purest part of our wedding day.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

Mostly everything! Etsy is truly a bride’s best friend. From bridesmaids gifts to “in loving memory”, cards and gifts and dessert table signs, to my garter, cake cutting set, most everything I crafted was from Etsy. My table numbers were the names of different cities and places we have been the past 7 years along with a picture of us in that city. We had a Coca-Cola glass bottle Coke Toast instead of champagne. The bridesmaids and groomsmen also had their names on their plates and a personalized Coke bottle that said bridesmaid/groomsman/maid-of-honor/best man.

Did you have a something old, new, borrowed or blue?

Of course! My great grandmother’s handkerchief was my something old and she made it and it was also my mom’s something old on her wedding day. My dress, earrings and shoes were all of my something new’s. My mother’s diamond tennis bracelet I wore was my something borrowed and my garter was my something blue!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

One. Take a deep breath. Sometimes wedding planning is the most fun and sometimes it’s incredibly stressful. Two. Personalize as much as is needed without going too out of the box. Make your wedding YOU and YOUR FIANCE. We have been to so many weddings where you can tell the bride and her mother just took over, remember you are getting married and this is your day with your soon-to-be husband. He might not care what color the flowers are but if you include him, you might be surprised on the things he has an opinion on! -Liz, the Bride
