Shopping for maternity clothes is a challenge! Stores stock very little and you never know how pieces are going to fit. If you have been pregnant before, your second go-round could be in a totally different season. My first was born in the dead of winter and I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with my second due on the unofficial last day of summer. My pregnancy wardrobe is drastically different, but one thing that hasn’t changed is that I don’t want to break the bank unless I have a special occasion or a piece I know I will continue wearing post-pregnancy.
My recommendation to anyone embarking on their pregnancy journey is to invest in one or two pairs (depending on the season) of maternity jeans, a pair of denim shorts, if season-appropriate. Several dresses that make you feel good, that may mean highlighting your bump to you, for me, it’s easy shapes that I can wear with a comfy bra. I normally gravitate toward loose-fitting styles, so I don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe, but a few tees or tanks that cover your entire bump are a must, and I think a great polished blouse or shirt is a good place to spend, this is my favorite. You may also need a few new bras depending on the changes in your body. So now you have an idea of what you need, but where do you go?! The team and I, almost all very new moms, have rounded up our favorite places to shop for maternity.
ASOS has a plethora of styles for any occasion. From classic to trendy, and from basic to special occasion, they have you covered at a range of price points.
A PEA IN THE POD
I always associated A Pea In The Pod with dated maternity wear, until a few months ago, I finally visited the website and discovered they have a huge range of brands and styles including designer jeans and pretty dresses.
From a range of shorts and jeans to, basic tops and even pretty dresses, the Gap has your back and your belly covered.
H&M is another great shop with trendy styles at a great price point. They have lots of cute pieces that won’t break the bank.
Hatch is a cult favorite. Their style is on the higher end, but are designed to transition beyond pregnancy. I splurged on a dress to wear to my baby shower and still have it in my closet as a staple four years later.
Of course, Nordstrom is a great place for jeans, but they also stock brands you can’t find at other retailers and is a great source for bras and other fabulous undergarments to help you feel your best.
Shopbop as always is perfectly curated. They carry a variety of designer styles for all occasions.
Old Navy, your standard for basics every day can also be your go-to for basics while pregnant. Shorts, jeans, tees, they have you covered. And great sales to boot!
Of course you’ll find yourself at Target over the course of your pregnancy. Stop by and check out the maternity section, but visit the website for extended sizes and styles.
