Adorable DIY Wedding at The Springs Event Venue

“Ruth and Justin are one of the sweetest couples yet and have turned the Springs in Weatherford in one dreamy and fairytale backdrop with all their DIY flower arrangements! These two met in high school, stayed together through a tough time of a long distance relationship, got engaged in Hawaii while paddle boarding on the ocean and are just incredibly in love with each other! The beautiful decoration of this pastel lavender, mixed metals of gold and silver and accents of navy blue, alongside breathtaking creative florals by Fifty Flowers. Every single detail was thoughtfully put together and every expectation was blown out by Ruth & Justin’s incredible love to details! Not to mention, the backdrop of the Springs is absolutely dreamy and magical itself.” –Luisa’s Secret Photography

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

Our favorite wedding day memory is the mariachi band we had playing during the reception. The sound of the instruments playing the most romantic ranchera songs while we danced is what we remember the most!

What did you DIY for your wedding?

We DIY’d a lot for our wedding. All the decorations were done by us with great support from my Mom. We bought all the gold decor from thrift stores because I was going for a more antique look. All of the candles, little candle light gold glass pieces and easels were bought from Hobby Lobby, the big glass center pieces were bought from the Dollar Tree, and the great amount of beautiful greenery and roses were ordered from Fifty Flowers and white hydrangeas from Sam’s Club. My Mom was the master mind behind all the flower decorations, I just showed her a few pictures for ideas of what we could make it look like and she took over from there {I know, she’s the best!} She had help from all my family who came to our wedding from Mexico to put all the arrangements together the day before and the morning of the wedding. I can’t thank them enough for all that help, everyone was so happy and enthusiastic that they helped with the final product. To all the brides out there, do not be afraid to ask for help from your family…they truly want to help you make that day the best it could possibly be! Don’t be afraid to take them on their offer to help you!

All the signs I did myself. I don’t know how to write in pretty calligraphy so I downloaded fonts from dafont.com printed the words in paper and traced over the glass, it worked out great! Oh! The Wedding PiƱata! My amazing mom did that for me! I saw a picture on Instagram, showed it to her, she asked me if I wanted it and I said yes so she made it happen. We put Mexican candy inside because that’s our favorite and pretty much everything else – vow books, bridesmaid hangers, bride hanger, wedding invitations, wedding stationary, save the dates, arch decorations, wedding sings, etc, was done by us with the help of Pinterest aka your wedding planning best friend!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

I would say, be patient! Everything will fall into pieces and everything will look great together at the end! Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help, all your dear friends and family are so excited and happy for your engagement that all they want to do is help you in anything or any way they can. Finally, enjoy the planning together! My husband and I have so many memories about all of our planning days and we feel that our wedding day was much more rewarding because we saw everyone enjoying everything we put together and appreciating everything and that made us enjoy our day even more! -Ruth, the Bride
