How did you find your photographer?
I actually found Lily on Instagram! She lives close to where my parents live in New Jersey and popped up. I had a certain look in my head of how I wanted our pictures to look and once I saw Lily’s work I knew she would be perfect for the job! My husband and I are pretty laid back and we didn’t want our pictures to look too cheesy or too forced – we just wanted to be us. We FaceTimed with Lily, explained our vision and knew that night that she had to be our photographer! Needless to say, we were not disappointed!
What are you DIY-ing for your wedding?
I tried to do as much myself {with the help of my mom and bridesmaids} as I could for my wedding. I wanted it to feel really personal and incorporate a lot of things that make my husband and I ‘us’. Instead of a traditional guest book, we used 3 of our favorite albums and had our guests sign those. I made all of the signs myself, including the seating chart. I used Etsy to create my own template for our Save the Dates, and to get a custom macrame hanging to use on the arch under which we got married. With the help of my mom {who must have gone to Michael’s 25 times at least} we made our own welcome bags for the guests staying at the hotels. It was nice to have total control over all of the little things, but it definitely made things a little more stressful at times. It was 100% worth it though!
Of all your wedding plans, what are you looking forward to the most?
Seeing all of these different moving parts finally come together. It was over a year and a half of planning, so to see it all come to life was really amazing – I really couldn’t have asked for anything better. We also had my older brother marry us and my other brother do the reading, so that was extremely special and something I will be forever grateful for. Also the fact that we had everyone we loved there to celebrate us and our love was magical! And of course the fact that I got to marry the love of my life! {Sorry it’s all in past tense, we’ve already gotten married :) -Samantha, the Bride
