Gorgeous and Handmade Lake Powell Wedding

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

So. Many. Emotions. Nothing can compare to the pure love a mother has for her daughter. My favorite moment was walking hand and hand down the aisle with my beautiful, amazingly strong, wise mother. Although my dad met us half way, this moment belonged to her. Being a single mother raising two daughters is not easy but she made it happen. I hope to have a special bond with my daughter as I do with my mom.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

Beauty of living in a small town – we had to DIY or we’d be making endless trips to the nearest city. The goal of this wedding planning was for it to be simple and as stress free as possible. This especially meant renting things we did not want to be stuck with at the end of the special occasion. We rented table covers, table runners, center piece wood slabs, vases and signs from Y-Knot Party Rentals. This gave us a starting point for the main decorations. We purchased several rolls of tulle and ribbon from a local fabric store – we did not know what to do with it at first, but it came in handy for our ceremony chairs and helped add pops of turquoise and blue here and there. We added different types of Arizona sand and plants to the center piece vases and throw on some battery operated stringed lights for an extra glow {our family definitely came in clutch on this idea}. We created our invitations and RSVP cards using a template from Vistaprint – quick and easy. Our programs were designed and printed right at home. The wood logs for the aisle were picked, cut and delivered by our awesome family. Last, our beautiful wedding arch was made by my very talented craftsman of an uncle. The wood used was picked from our family ranch on the Navajo reservation.

After all of this planning and preparing – I joke with my husband that all he had to do was show up and look pretty. Glad he did:)

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

All things considered, enjoy the moments leading up to your big day and have fun! Take it one day at a time and try not to get hung up on the little details no one will probably remember. -Bronwyn, the Bride
