Romantic + Snow Filled Kansas City Engagement Session

“When Lena contact me a couple of months ago, she had dreams of a romantic winter engagement session. We had just had an unusually early blizzard, so we thought, “we shouldn’t have to wait long”. We were wrong. We waited, and waited, and waited some more and we just couldn’t get more than a dusting. Finally, when we were about to give up, the skies opened up for a nice soft 13″ of snow, which gave us the most beautiful winter wonderland I can ever remember seeing in Missouri. Dan and Lena met in line at a Royals game. When Dan reached out to Lena a couple weeks later on Facebook to go out on a date, it opened up a new chapter that would forever change the course of their lives.” –Staci Ann Moore Photography

Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

The proposal was such a surprise and not my ideal of a proposal but is so Dan! We went to KC Wine Co on November 24, 2018 just Dan and I because I had been “dying” to go there. When leaving there, Dan was very stern about going over to my parents house in Blue Springs Missouri. My parents and sister were home and I decided to sit out back on the patio since it was a rare 60 degree November day. Dan had went to the car to get the bottle of wine we bought earlier and when he came back to the patio he stood in front of me {neither of us remember what he said} and got on one knee with the most beautiful ring I had ever dreamed of! I was so shocked my first response was “wow thank you Danny.” and of course I said YES! Dan was so nervous the week of Thanksgiving because he knew he wanted to do it in a meaningful place. He took in to consideration of how important family is to me and waited until it was just my parents, sister, dogs, him and I.

We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

The ring is gorgeous! I thought I would want pear shape with rose gold, well because duh it’s 2018/19 and rose gold is in! Nope, I love the oval shape Dan had chosen. It is very simple but elegant and different. All white gold with diamonds down the side of the band. The center diamond is bigger than I had thought he would ever spend. It is perfect.

Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

Yes I am so excited to start wedding planning! Ever since I was a little girl I had dreamt of getting married. We tossed around the idea of a destination wedding {who doesn’t want to get married by a beach or mountains?!} but it is important to us to have a traditional church wedding here in Kansas City with our families and friends. We are very private people so we love the idea of a small, intimate ceremony and reception so we are working on keeping our guest list under 100. Dan and I are huge donut lovers so yes there will for sure be a donut wall, thanks Pinterest! -Lena, the Bride
