This week summer officially becomes fall! I love fall. Like, I really LOVE fall. Give me all the pumpkin spice lattes, apple orchard trips, football tailgates and butternut squash recipes under the sun! Fall is the perfect time to get married. The leaves are changing, there is a little chill in the air, so your guests aren’t melting, but they aren’t freezing either. There is something so magical about this time of year. I often browse Pinterest and Instagram for pretty porch vignettes with pumpkins and mums, or fall wreath ideas, and I got to thinking about ways you could bring touches of the season into a wedding without turning the day into a fall-theme.
As a designer I tend to shy away from traditional fall color palettes, orange and red are not usually my favorites, however there are many beautiful ways to bring in the autumnal feel without being too literal. I love the gourds and pumpkins in the dusty orange and sage colors, they would layer lovely on a clean, neutral palette to bring in a fall element. How about thinking outside the box and drawing inspiration from a macintosh apple? Small accents of red and bright green on to a base of navy would make a beautiful color scheme.
Beyond color, get creative in adding fall elements to your day. You could opt for donuts or apple pie instead of traditional cake. You could add pomegranates or persimmon to your tables, or add fall foliage to an all greenery installation you had envisioned. And here’s an idea your most “basic” guests will be all about, serve Pumpkin Spice Lattes instead of a traditional coffee bar. There are so many fabulous ways to add just the right seasonal touch to your wedding day, scroll to see a few of our favorites in action.
