What is your favorite wedding day memory?

During our ceremony, it sprinkled rain on us the entire time. My favorite memory was standing there watching rain fall upon Joe’s notebook pages as he read his handwritten vows to me. It felt like it was just us and it was a moment to never forget.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

I created mostly everything for our wedding! Instead of hand-out programs, I painted a giant frame and wrote out the program in paint pen. The night before the wedding the bridal party put together our own bouquets with wholesale flowers we purchased from Fifty Flowers. I have to give them a big shout-out because I was in a major flower-pickle a few days before our event and the team at Fifty Flowers helped me sort everything out! The morning of the wedding I had two of my bridesmaids do my hair and all the bridal party did their own hair and makeup. I hand wrote out everyone’s names for the seating chart and glued them into little slabs of wood. We had a friend make the wood cross that was behind us for the ceremony and our reception with the hanging eucalyptus. It was a fun season of creating and now I can show everyone!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Have the mindset that it won’t be completely perfect. We plan for months and when it rains on you while you stand outside on your outdoor wedding, you just have to laugh. Have joy in the things that you can’t control. Once it comes to the day of your wedding, roll with it! Spend time with your husband and dance the night away! -Carli, the Bride
