Stunning and DIY New Jersey Farm Wedding

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

It’s hard to pick just one! We had a moment during our ceremony where drinks were passed out and a toast was read by our family; we had a minute to look out to everyone who was there watching us get married, to really soak in the feeling of love, excitement and happiness of the day….rivaled by the “pizza” chant at the end of the night from the dance floor when our last food truck rolled in!

What did you DIY for your wedding?

We chose an local operating farm as a wedding venue, our entire experience was DIY. We reached out to the family that owns the farm and told them our story and asked if they’d be open to us hosting our wedding on their property… luckily they said yes! We sourced vintage furniture, glassware and antiques for decor; our alter was vintage doors and shutters. Our wedding wine totes were designed and pressed by me, {Can you say “sweating for the wedding?!”}. We taste-tested and approved all of our food truck and bar vendors, who then built custom menus for our wedding, as well as built our bars on-site with an unforgettable farm-to-tap signature cocktails. But most importantly, our entire family and close friends were involved in the making of our wedding day. We swept barns, moved forklifts, hung lights from old barn roof rafters and pieced together a breathtaking and truly unbelievable {until seen} venue.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

It’s your wedding, all that matters is that you and your significant other are happy and can look back and say, “Wow, best day ever.” Do what you want – if what you’re looking for isn’t out there, go create it. If you are doing exactly what you want, and making your dream and vision come to life… then nothing will stomp out that happiness. BUT – don’t stress all the little, itsy-bitsy small stuff. What are your biggest memories from all the weddings you’ve attended? Sorry to say, it’s not that the champagne chairs and silver candelabras didn’t match the pearl-toned vases. So nail the most important aspects of your wedding day to YOU and everyone else will be just as impressed! -Chelsea, the Bride
