“Erin was the absolute definition of a “Something Turquoise” bride. From the newlywed mad libs to the stunning boutonnières she created, she touched every little detail with her DIY magic. Their stunning wedding took place during golden hour overlooking the town they first fell in love in, Santa Barbara. For Erin and Johnny we wanted to encompass a whimsical yet rustic California evening.” –Madeline Moore Events

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

The whole day was beyond what we could have imagined, and boy was it a whirlwind. If I had to pick a specific memory to be my favorite, it would be our first look. I had been poked and prodded all morning, and surrounded by so many people that I loved, but as soon as I got to see my groom, it felt like time slowed down and it hit me head-on what the whole day was about.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

Mostly everything! We purchased plates, silverware and table cloths on Craigslist from a newlywed couple that used them in their wedding. Our wedding favors were Marigold seeds that my sister collected from her garden and dried out and we packaged individually for the guests. My aunt and uncle were so generous as to take succulent cuttings from their yard and plant and nurture individual pots of succulents that were used for our centerpieces. My sister created signs for the wedding on palettes that fit with the rustic theme and last but certainly not least, our amazing day-of wedding coordinator went above and beyond with decorations and centerpieces, including the flower arrangements and dream catchers. She helped tie together the whole day.

Did you have a something old, new borrowed, blue?

Yes! Thanks to my Mom and my awesome bridesmaids. My something old was a hand-sewn handkerchief from my grandmother. It really came in handy during the ceremony! My something new was my dress, my something borrowed was my necklace which was borrowed from my sister and also previously my grandmother’s. Lastly, my something blue was my garter, made by my sister that had a blue bead on it.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Above everything else, remember what the day is all about, you and your future husband and your promises to one another. Nothing else is as important, so don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything will be fun, beautiful and awesome, so relax and enjoy yourself! -Erin, the Bride
