Dreamy Spring Wedding with DIY Flowers

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

The ceremony flew by so quickly! Jack was so nervous and not seeing him the 20 hours before the wedding was absolutely terrifying! Before the ceremony, we were able to stand on different sides of a column and pray together. We couldn’t peek, but we took each other’s hands and were able to share that very special moment together. I was so ready that I didn’t get too emotional, but he fell apart in that moment because he was so overwhelmed with love. That moment gave me the courage to make it down the aisle without crying too much!

What did you DIY for your wedding?

The whole wedding was my in my head for months and I had to piece it together in every spare moment I could find during my last semester of college. I coordinated everything on my own just because I couldn’t trust anyone else to represent us and Jack was definitely too overwhelmed by my attempts to describe everything! I designed and arranged my own flowers and also put the infographic program together. I was definitely busy as my own planner and florist! A special part of ordering my flowers and greenery from Blooms by the Box meant was the creativity and freedom. Since the wedding was on Mother’s Day, we ordered succulents in addition to the flowers so we could pot each plant and personally hand out the little gifts to each mother who attended as a special thank you for sharing their big day with us.

Did you have a something old, new borrowed, blue?

My favorite part of my wedding get-up was my blue polar bear socks! I’d gotten them for Christmas from my mom and loved how soft they were, so I had to wear them under my old boots! Everything else was new, except my Mom let me borrow my late Grandmother’s wedding band. I just couldn’t fall in love with anything at the jewelry stores and cherished the simplicity of the engagement ring Jack had picked out {a gold band with a solitaire round cut diamond}. So, being able to borrow my Grandmother’s plain band meant so much to me going into this marriage. She held a special place in our hearts and her wedding ring is a special reminder of the remarkable love she had for her husband and family.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Take a deep breathe and enjoy everything! Stop stressing over the food and entertainment! Focus on preparing yourself for the special moments by coordinating your time and efforts planning to highlight what is most valuable to you and your future husband. -Katelyn, the Bride
