What is your favorite wedding day memory?

My favorite wedding day memory was walking down the aisle to see my husband to be in tears! I told myself I was going to be strong and not cry, but as soon as I saw him, the waterworks started flowing! It was such a special moment and for a minute, it felt like we were the only two people in the world. Even though we both ended up with horrible cry faces in the photos, it was truly so special.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

Yes, we DIY-ed lots for our wedding, partly to help save money and partly because we wanted some special decor that we couldn’t find elsewhere. Some of the things we DIY-ed were: table numbers from Something Turquoise, our escort card display, childhood photos displays, groomsmen gift boxes, picking all the signage and photo frames, seating card flower bundles, “ring for a kiss” bells, and more!

Did you have a something old, new borrowed, blue?

I didn’t have something from each of these categories, but the one thing that was really special to me was that my florist wove my Grandmother’s bracelet into my bouquet. Since she wasn’t able to be here for the wedding, it was really special to have that so close to my heart.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Take your time and discover your style. There are so many things that I started picking up at the beginning of our engagement, that later did not fit into the style of the wedding and that was okay. Try different things and browse the internet for ideas and make them your own. Do mock ups of different decor at home and take pictures so you can see how you like the arrangements and find that one special person to be your right hand in the planning process – for me, my husband’s response to everything was “yes” or “whatever makes you happy”, so it was so important to have my Mom who would actually tell me her true opinion. Start planning with plenty of time so that you don’t get overwhelmed {you probably will feel stressed at some point regardless!} and remember that no one except you knows how things are actually supposed to be. -Diana, the Bride
