“Sometimes you work with a Rose or an Aster and they want to do this meta thing where they carry the flowers they’re named after. It happens. And that’s why I appreciate Daisy’s approach on her Day of Matrimony! She DIY’d her wedding flowers and mastered the Old South feel without giving everyone visions of some guy named Beauford rocking on a porch. It’s lacy without being fussy. Twinkly without being trite. Traditional without being predictable. Really, this is the fireworks in your stomach/gasp on your lips/stars in your eyes wedding everybody dreams about. Yet they made it entirely their own. The best part of their union – it just feels real. Important. And buoyed with joy. At any given moment, an heirloom hair pin could have been gifted to a dear friend, then followed up with an all-you-can-eat nacho challenge. That’s my kind of love party.” –Flower Moxie

What is your favorite wedding day memory?
We did a first look and afterwards read letters together that we had written to each other that morning. It was really nice to have that moment between us, after the rush of getting ready and before the craziness of the ceremony begun. That day it was 95 degrees so the ceremony was a little war and Ross couldn’t stop sweating which we found really funny. We had a great time dancing with all our family and friends at the reception – the dance floor was never empty!
What did you DIY for your wedding?
We used Flower Moxie to buy our flowers from a great wholesale flower shop in the area. We were then able to design + create all the bouquets and boutonnieres ourselves. My family and friends helped with this {we made a boutonniere for every guest present} – it was a fun process to go through together and I am so happy with how everything turned out.
Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?
Try and go with the flow as much as possible. Things aren’t always going to work out perfectly and that’s ok! I promise it will all work out. Also, if you have a vision for what you want everything to look like and how you want things to go, stick to it, even if people around you are trying to sway you otherwise or if they have their own ideas. It’s all about you and your husband that day so do what you want to do! -Daisy, the Bride
