What is your favorite wedding day memory?

The best part of the wedding for us was definitely the bonfire on the beach once the reception had ended. The wedding day goes by so fast! We spent the whole night dancing and having a great time but winding down on the beach after dark roasting s’mores in the bonfire, toes in the sand, drink in our hands (in our custom wedding coozies), surrounded by our closest family and friends! We couldn’t ask for a better ending to our day.

We really wanted a non-traditional wedding, I didn’t want boring typical beige or black bridesmaids dresses, that’s why I went with the bright striped Lilly dresses and the bright coral flowers. The sunglasses were a last minute decision because it was bright out but I love how colorful everything was!

What did you DIY for your wedding?

My bridesmaids and my mother were definitely the creative ones. My bridesmaids used old BirchBox boxes to create “Bridesmaid Emergency Kits”. They had all the wedding day essentials in there…chapstick, tissues, sewing kit, mints etc!

My mother created all of the menus. She embossed them all with a raised gold compass, on white card stock and mounted them on coral card stock then placed them on citrus green napkins for an extra pop of color!

My mother also created the party favors by placing Jordan almonds (flown in straight from Italy from my husbands family!) and wrapped them in coral tissue paper then cut them to look like coral peonies with yellow stamens and finished them tied with a citrus green ribbon to look like leaves.

We also made all our placecards and wedding signs including: Our hashtag sign (#AmoreattheWychmere), the favors sign (five sugared almonds for each guest to eat to remind us that life is both bitter and sweet, five wishes for the new husband and wife, health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!), the seating assignment sign (YOU CAN FIND YOUR SEATING ASSIGNMENT HERE but your place is on the dance floor!), the Well Wishes Jar (Please leave your well wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs.).

Something old, new, borrowed and blue?

  • Something old: my grandmothers brooch (attached to my bouquet)
  • Something new: my wedding dress!
  • Something borrowed: my mothers coral rosary beads (draped around my bouquet)
  • Something blue: my grandmothers sapphire ring

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

I’m an event planner by day, so planning my wedding was easier than it is for most. My advice would be to just breathe. You will fight with your mother, your father, your fiancĂ©, your bridesmaids, and your guests!! The only thing you have to remember is that this is not just YOUR day (as the bride). It’s also the day your fiancĂ© marries the love of his life, the day your mothers daughter gets married, the day your father has to give away his daughter, the day your bridesmaids have to wait on you hand and foot! Don’t be selfish in the decision making, listen to everyone’s ideas and try to take them in stride. – Brittany, the bride
