real wedding | Mike + Molly

“When I met Molly + Mike for the first time last fall, little did I know just how close we’d become over the next year. Molly’s older sister, a newborn photographer who was in charge of finding the perfect wedding photographer for Molly, brought us together, but we quickly realized that our lives were connected in many ways. Funny enough, a few months after booking me as their wedding photographer, Molly + Mike decided to pick up and leave Baltimore for the warmth and southern hospitality of Charleston, South Carolina – a move my husband and I had made only a year earlier. Since their move to Charleston, we’ve become even closer so when it was time to photograph Molly + Mike’s wedding in September, it was almost like photographing family. Documenting their wedding day was a true honor. I’m truly blessed to do what I love for a living and even more blessed when I connect with people like Molly + Mike, who turn out not only to be amazing clients, but also amazing friends.” – Dana Cubbage Weddings

I absolutely LOVE the cake stands that the bride and her Mom made out of simple glass jars.. they added some pretty sea glass inside the jars and placed the specialty cakes on top. It’s a genius idea that can be used for any theme!

“I think the whole day in general will be my favorite memory for a very long time. I have to say the day turned out perfect and I could not have asked for a better wedding and wouldn’t of changed a thing. It was an amazing feeling, walking down the aisle to marry my best friend and then getting to celebrate with our closest friends and relatives. Best party we will ever throw!

..Well I cant say “I” DIY-ed anything, because my Mom DIY-ed everything! She is the one that made the wedding day look absolutely perfect for us. My mom is very artsy-fartsy and I wanted to try and stick to our budget so the to do list became very large and almost never ending. Mike and I moved to Charleston, SC from Baltimore, MD in March – so it was very hard for me to help my Mom. She dedicated all her days off work to the wedding crafts; from making all the signs that were used, making the gifts/place cards (bottles filled with turquoise m&m’s) and creating the centerpieces on all the tables, she had to go to 7 different Michaels for the all the white lanterns. We created the cake display ourselves – with the upside down hurricanes since the baker was not able to make a traditional tiered cake because each cake was 7 layers. My mom would send me pics of all the crafts once they were completed, and it was so exciting. But when I walked into the venue right before walking down the aisle, I got soooo happy because everything came together so well, I owe it all to my sweet Mom…

ST_advice_for_current_brides

Don’t stress over it, make the day original with things you love and include all the people who love you and your fiancé, it’s only one day so you want it to be spent with your favorite people, enjoy every moment, it’s such a special day!” – Molly, the bride
