DIY No-Sew Baby Bow Head Wrap

I am Carli Hein from Hein & Dandy, a website full of creative ideas! Maybe you have seen my baby Bria on here with my other tutorials, if you haven’t, she has basically no hair. I always have to put her in a bow so that when I go to Target people don’t always say, “what a cute little boy”. After purchasing some bows for her I thought that this would be super simple to make myself, and guess what? IT IS! You probably have a lot of the materials already at your house, an iron, some scissors. All you are going to need is some fabric and Heat N Bond Stretch Lite to make the CUTEST bows.

Measure and cut

All babies have different size heads so go ahead and measure your baby if you want an exact measurement or else here are the average measurements I used for my 50th percentile baby.

  • Newborn 9 inches x 22 inches
  • 0-6 months 9 inches x 25 inches
  • 6-12 months 9 inches x 27 inches
  • 1-3 years 9 inches x 28 inches

Bond

Fold your fabric in half (hotdog style) the long way. Measure out enough heat and bond to cover the entire open edge of the fabric. Follow the heat and bond instructions: Put the Soft Stretch Lite it on the inside of the folded fabric. Apply heat for 30 seconds and allow to cool. Gently peel back the liner to reveal the glue. Line up the edges of the fabric and press from the top of the folded fabric and allow to cool again.

Flip

Once the glue has cooled, flip the fabric inside out creating a flat surface.

Keep on ironing

Now that your fabric is flipped we have to finish up the edges. Cut the adhesive to line one side of the inside of the fabric tube you have created. Fold over the cut edges follow the ironing instructions. Do this on both sides and you have a tidy rectangle ready to be made into a bow!

The tricky part

Follow the picture below to get that perfect bow. This part is maybe the only tricky part of the entire project. Fold in the edges to tie a knot, bringing the right side over the left side. Loop under the right side and pull back to the right to TA-DA make a bow! Pull tight and adjust to your baby’s head as needed.
