As a wedding planner, I have always dreamed of hosting celebrations for my own family, especially a first birthday celebration. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with a darling little girl, I ordered more Lilly Pulitzer baby shifts than I care to admit, but I just couldn’t help myself when I knew the option of matching my mini was right around the corner. I knew pretty early on that the bright, colorful and fun patterns would be a perfect backdrop to a first birthday celebration one day {after the long, long months of pregnancy were over, and the somehow very fast first year of life had completed!}

One of my favorite Lilly prints is Local Flavor, and it worked out perfectly when I realized there were several matching outfit options. So I set off to plan a tropical 1st birthday party with a nod to Lilly’s successful start with a juice stand. The details came together so well, from floral pineapples to bright balloon displays.

I enlisted the help of my patient husband, her handy grandfather and a few of my other family members and started planning our DIY projects. We created signs, a “juice stand”, designed the invitations, and made the cutest party hats for each mini guest at the birthday party. Creating each piece for such a sweet party is something I will always remember.

Now that your event is over, do you have any advice or thoughts?

As I planned the party, many people told me not to sweat it because it’s not like my daughter will remember the party, but in the end, I am so happy with the day. I wouldn’t change it for anything. – Macy, the Mom
