“A picnic basket, giant balloons, and cute cheese platters! I knew as soon as I met Kym and Rey that their engagement and wedding was going to be special. Their DIY style was the perfect mix of vintage meets elegant. We hiked through a West Coast rainforest and finished off with a sunset picnic complete with champagne overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was such a privilege to be a part of their story and to create friendships with such amazing people.” – Whitney Lane Photography

“We were so lucky to have found Whitney and Kel from Whitney Lane Photography while browsing the internet for Vancouver wedding photographers. I was initially drawn to the pictures I came across of their travels throughout Europe and then I saw their wedding photography and was even more blown away! When we met Whitney and Kel for the first time, we felt like we had known them forever. They made us feel comfortable right from the start and I knew immediately that they was the ones for us. :) We could not have made a better choice for such an important decision…

..Planning our wedding definitely brought out a lot of creativity in me that I never new I had! Most of the décor elements in our wedding were DIY projects made by yours truly! One of my favorite DIY projects was made from an old set of drawers that I found at a thrift store which I cleaned, painted and used as cookie and drink trays. Welcome bags were made for each of our guests containing a jar of our favorite peach jam along with a map to the local wineries and other survival goodies for the weekend. I also made several chalkboards out of vintage frames that we used for our menu and various other signage. An old window served as our seating chart and local peaches were placed on each dinner plate with the guest name attached.

..Rey and I were married in Naramata, BC which is a very special place for us. Of all the wedding plans, what we looked forward to the most was having our closest family and friends tall together in such a special place for such an amazing weekend. Friends and family flew from all over the world to be with us on our wedding weekend. The weekend was filled with wine tours, bike rides, swimming and of course one extremely eventful and fun wedding! It was truly amazing to see so many people we love so much be all together to witness our first day as husband and wife.

Looking forward or looking back, our hearts are completely FULL of gratitude. We are so thankful for all the special people in our lives which now include our photographers Whitney and Kel :)” – Kim, the bride

“It was like a movie” he said, “That part where everyone else goes blurry except that one girl. She was wearing a red dress. I’ll never forget that dress. I just kept thinking ‘This is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen”…

Life began for Matthew on the dance floor of his junior prom. He saw Jessica dancing and after moving in with his killer dance moves, he went for it. He kissed her right there on the dance floor. He called her later that night, she picked up and said “What was THAT?!”. Their first official date was on the shore of Lake Michigan. After they had been seated Matthew excused himself to go the the restroom. Jessica waited patiently. He ran out to his car and grabbed a sign he had made. He went around the restaurant on the other side of the glass where the girl of his dreams was waiting and pressed up the sign against window. The sign read “Jessica, will you go out with me”. Jessica just sat there as the entire restaurant stared in disbelief. She didn’t move a single inch. Matthew ran back inside, and after what felt like years, she said yes. If you couldn’t tell, Matthew is a man who knows exactly what he wants. He knew that one day he would get down on one knee, present Jessica the ring he had saved for since the night of their junior prom, and ask her to be his forever. And it was nothing short of amazing.” – Emily Jane Photography

“I found Emily through a really good friend! I had been dying to meet Emily through Kendall (they have been friends for a really long time) and I thought Emily would be such a good person to work with! She was so great! Matt, my fiancé, was really nervous for this shoot! But Emily made it so easy to capture so many great moments! Along with asking what we like to do for fun and camping is a huge thing we do together and right away she suggested a camp fire and s’mores! So of course we went with it and made the best of a fall day…

..I would have to say that I am doing a lot of DIY projects for the wedding! From flowers and centerpieces to even my own invites! I even plan on making my own veil! I am really having a lot of fun doing all these projects, and Matt and I both decided that a long engagement is what was best for us, so in the fall of 2015 is when we will tie the knot! Plenty of time to make crafts without having to worry about getting it done in six months. We are planning a more rustic wedding, when it comes to the decorations, I think less is more.

..We are planning on getting married at the church that we both belong too which is in our hometown of Grand Rapids, and then having a reception at a TBD location. (Of course I’ve been looking and I have a one in mind, but it’s tentative). I am having cupcakes made along with a little cake for Matt and I by a family friend. I am also getting all kinds of help from my soon-to-be in laws which makes me so excited to become part of the family! The most exciting thing about planning all of this would have to be sharing our day with our friends and family, and having two families come together in love!” -Jessica, the bride-to-be

Mike and Cailey are the definition of a “cute couple”. These two high school sweethearts went to school together from kindergarten to 12th grade and literally have photos sitting beside each other doing crafts in those miniature desks at 5 years old. So adorable…

…Not only are they adorable but they are so fun to be around. It’s evident they have been friends for years in the way they interact with each other and those around them. What better way to start a relationship! Their fun-loving, playful, but yet oh-so-sweet and caring relationship is so refreshing and absolutely beautiful. This beachy engagement session captures just that. From the stunning location on Mayne Island, B.C. to all the fun details including a set of binoculars that have been around their family cabin on Mayne Island for years, it was neat to be able to document their engagement in a place that has been in Cailey’s family for generations. So meaningful.” – Taliah Berger Photography

Taliah is actually my sister! It was great because we were obviously wanting photos to capture our engagement, and she had some ideas for the shoot she wanted to try at the cabin so it worked out perfect! I have grown up going to Mayne Island with my family (as did my father and his siblings) and now with Mike as well, so it was neat to be able to celebrate this exciting stage of life at a location that has such sentimental value… with a photographer who understands that and was able to capture it so perfectly…

..Of all the wedding plans, I am most excited to see the ceremony site all set up how we have planned it, and to see Mike at the end of the aisle. I think that is the moment that every girl waits for, and I have a feeling it will definitely be my favorite part of our wedding! I’m also really excited about our sparkler exit because I have seen many photos of it done that way and it always looks so beautiful!” – Cailey, the bride-to-be

“When Katherine and Rob pulled up at Pass-a-Grille beach they had Katherine’s white and aqua beach cruiser strapped to the back of their car! It’s been on my “list o’ fun” as I call it, to shoot with a bike and it just happened to be Katherine’s birthday present from Rob! As you can see we had some fun with it on the streets in the little town nearby. It was one of those evenings with the beautiful light pink sky.. and someone had even built a pretty fantastic sand castle for us. Sweet and happy love!” – Carrie Wildes Photography

“After stalking (hahaha!) reading through multiple blogs online one particular design kept catching my eye, Carrie’s flower logo! After talking about it with a few friends I realized that many people knew Carrie and she came highly recommended! I knew that she booked up fast and so we decide at the last minute (just two months before our wedding) to take engagement photos with her! I asked her for a good beach photo location and she recommended Pass-a-grill, I knew it was perfect! My family has been going there my whole life, it’s one of my favorite beaches in the St. Pete area!

..We are DIY-ing just a few things with the help and inspiration of Pinterest and Etsy. The favors for our guests are mini champagne bottles. My bridesmaids and I will be personalizing each tag and tying them off with striped paper straw and a bow of tulle. Our weekend welcome bags will have homemade (by my mother and I) Coconut bath scrub and also homemade chocolate chip cookies from my sister! Our seating chart, table numbers, welcome and menu boards will all be chalk boards handwritten by the maid of honor and the groom’s sister. The guests place cards will be written in calligraphy and close-pinned to each napkin. Another bridesmaid will be making a “Thank You” banner for Rob and I to hold in a picture. We hope to use that on the cover of our thank you cards! It is so wonderful to have helpful bridesmaids with such gorgeous handwriting!

..Rob and I are getting married in Tampa, Florida. I grew up in Tampa, and Rob attended college here – we were lucky enough for Tampa to be his first Air Force station. We wanted all of our guests to get the true feel of all things Tampa. From the rehearsal dinner on the beach, to the gorgeous cathedral church downtown, to the urban historic feel of Ybor City for the reception. We have friends and family coming from just about everywhere; California to New York. The best man is even traveling from Alaska! So I am most looking forward to spending time with the wonderful friends and family who are coming from near and far to help celebrate our big day and the beginning of our adventurous lives!” – Katherine, the bride-to-be
