Stunning Handmade Wedding At Blackstone Country Club!

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

Favorite memory? How to choose! I could write a novel about this day and all of the special moments it held, but one that is definitely high on our list is the speeches/toasts at our reception. My maid of honor, Hannah, Robert’s best man, Mike, and my father, John, each gave an incredibly heart-felt and eloquent speech in our honor. We were so touched by their poise and grace as they shared funny memories from our past and toasted to our future. Their love for us was evident in every word and we will never forget how we felt sitting at our sweetheart table, looking out onto our dear family and friends, listening to them speak. To say we felt blessed would be an understatement. It was a beautiful moment for us both.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

Yes! I was able to DIY a few special things with the help of my Mom, Dad and Sister who came to my rescue more than I can count throughout the planning process. Yay for family! The first was an extremely large canvas. Our incredible venue had a mosaic art piece hanging above the fireplace where our sweetheart table would be and though beautiful, it did not go with the reception space I was envisioning. So, we decided to cover it up! After months of searching for the perfect canvas that was large enough to cover the mosaic, my Mom suggested that we DIY it. We bought canvas at the local craft store, a few 4×4’s, and some paint. My dad built a frame and stretched the canvas over it saving me 100’s of dollars and my sister painted the quote, “With my whole heart for my whole life,” on it. It was the perfect touch to the reception space and a beautiful anchor for our sweetheart table.

The second was a photo booth. The professional ones that we had looked into were a bit pricey so they didn’t make it onto the Wozny Wedding Must-Have list. We still wanted a fun spot for our guests to take photos, so Robert and I chose to DIY it. We bought a rose gold sequined backdrop and large backdrop stand off of Amazon and these extremely cute props off of Etsy and ba-da-boom! We had a photo booth for our guests to snap pictures at. Not only was it fun to create, but we were also able to save a lot of money which was great! Plus, it turned out awesome!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

My advice for brides currently in the planning process would be to have fun! Girl, HAVE FUN. I know that is sometimes easier said than done, but make it a point to have fun and to enjoy every. single. second. Enjoy picking the date and meeting with vendors and outlining a budget and creating your ultimate wedding vision and enjoy your sweet bridal party and your loving family who are so excited for you that it hurts. Because even if you think you have all of the time in the world, it goes by so quickly. Cliche to say, but you’re gonna miss this. -Cassie, the Bride
