“Paula and Adam are dream clients, they value and love my work, which always encourages me to push myself to be unique and creative. We agreed to go on a hike at Mount Arabia, an abandoned rock quarry, so I arrived three hours early and walked about five miles before they arrived enjoying nature and planning and then we ended up walking three more miles together. Paula was looking beautiful in her heels, but what the camera doesn’t show was her fun sneakers and shin-high gingerbread socks she tromped around in from location to location between taking photos! They are both full of energy and inner beauty, which was very easy to capture as they expressed their love for each other. I can’t wait for their fall wedding!” – Sowing Clover Photography

How did you find your photographer?

We knew from the beginning that photography would be super important to us. Before we even booked a venue, we started out on our quest to find the right photographer. We found Chris at Sowing Clover through a referral. He shot the wedding of a friend and the photos were absolutely stunning. When I saw the photos, I immediately reached out to her to get the scoop on who shot her wedding. Chris is so organized and thoughtful. He puts a great deal of time and energy into making sure every shot is perfect and it really shows in his photos.

What are you DIY-ing for your wedding?

We’re DIYing quite a few things! From the beginning, we made a clear list of what we would leave to vendors and the things we could do on our own. We’re taking on some of the smaller ticket items. My aunt who loves baking is going to make 10 single-tier cakes for us…giving our guests a variety of options when it comes to deserts. My fiancĂ© and his best man are building a beautiful weathered-wood backdrop for our ceremony. Adam’s dad, who enjoys water color painting as a hobby, will paint some of our invitations, cake signs and table numbers. We also really enjoy the planning, ideation and curating process, so we’ve been very involved with our vendors to create the perfect laid-back and boho {and romantic} wedding for ourselves, our family and friends!

What are you looking forward to the most?

I just can’t wait to see my fiancĂ© on the big day! I know we will have so much fun taking it all in, surrounded by the people who mean the most to us. It truly takes a village to plan a wedding at times and it’s just so exciting to know that people care deeply enough to be a part of such a special day. Beyond that, we’re very excited to see how the full event comes together. We are getting married in Athens, Georgia at Ashford Manor, which is owned by some of our close friends. We’re spending lots of time curating details around design and music, which we are very passionate about. Music has always been a big part of our relationship, so we’re in the process of picking musical inspiration and themes for each part of the wedding. Our friends and family will hear everything from STS9 to the Beatles and Tame Impala.. and we can’t wait! – Paula, the bride
