Steal This Style | Floral Bridesmaid Dresses

Hey Turquoise lovers, Lauren, from I Love Love Events, back again talking bridesmaids. Not just any old bridesmaids, but fabulous, floral-clad bridesmaids. And why not!? It’s spring after all, season of the bloom. Today I am sharing inspiration for three types of floral looks, first up, vintage.

The vintage floral look is very 1950’s, a little kitschy, a little whimsical, but really works with the DIY bride. Modcloth is the perfect place to start your search for this style of floral dress. For a DIY bonus, pair it with a giant paper flower instead of a bouquet, like this tutorial via Green Wedding Shoes.

Next up, the preppy floral bridesmaid. While you may not be lucky enough to score your gals Lily Pulitzer for Target dresses, that is the look, and there are other places to get it. Think Palm Springs, bright colors, shift styles. A fun DIY accessory to compliment the nautical vibes is a sailor’s knot bracelet try this one from Fraise & Basilic.

Finally, my favorite floral look, the boho vibe. I love the earthy colors and the easy maxi styles for this feeling. Why not try it with DIY flower crowns? We love this simple tutorial from 100 Layer Cake-let.

Floral bridesmaid dresses have been up-trending for a while now, but there is a fine line to making it look flawless, here are my tips to avoid a mish-mash or bridesmaids that over power the bride.

5 Tips to Make this Look Work

  • Keep the flowers simple. One color or a monochromatic bouquet compliment the floral patterns.
  • If you mix and match floral dresses, keep color families the same.
  • Keep the styles consistent. Don’t mix a maxi with a short a-line dress.
  • Simple accessories work best. Avoid printed accessories and statement pieces.
  • When mixing and matching dresses keep the scale of the prints similar. You want to avoid a tiny ditsy print with an over-sizes floral full of negative space.
