DIY Wedding | Elliot + Aimee

“Amy and Elliot got married on Amy’s families farm. The ceremony was under two giant trees overlooking a beautiful pond and the reception was in the renovated barn on the farm. The couple spent months collecting glass pieces for their centerpieces and making all of the DIY accents for their decor. Some of my favorite photos of the day where of Amy and Elliot’s first look. Elliot was standing on a trial in the woods when Amy walked up behind him. The love that they have for each other is so perfect!” – Whitebox Photo

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

There are so many wonderful memories of that day, and the weeks leading up to the wedding, I can’t possibly choose one! Obviously, walking down the aisle is a surreal moment. I was trying to keep it together but ended up crying through most of the ceremony! Elliot’s aunt was our officiant so the ceremony was very personal. The rest of the wedding was just a really fun party – the highlight would probably be dancing non-stop with all of our friends and family!

What did you DIY for your wedding?

Everything!!! I made our save the date postcards, invitations, ceremony programs, individual menus for each place setting, table numbers, place cards on little brass cowbells (instead of traditional wedding bells since we got married in a barn). The biggest project was probably the centerpieces – I collected a thousand (yes, a thousand) antique glass bottles over the months leading up to the wedding, ordered flowers online and lined the length of each table with the bottles. It was a huge project! We also DIY’d a photo booth with red velvet curtains and an instant camera.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

My very best friend, my sister Michelle, is actually getting married this June. My advice would be if you’re DIY-ing a lot of stuff, get things done as far in advance as possible so the weeks and days leading up to the wedding are as stress-free as possible. We pulled everything off, but the week leading up to our wedding was a bit hectic! – Aimee, the bride
