“I always get nervous when I get an email from a client asking what we’re going to do if it rains. I tell them to hope for the best and as long as it’s not pouring we’ll keep our appointment. Well… that’s exactly what happened with Michael and Heather’s session. Lucky for us, the rain stopped about an hour before we started and we had the most amazing fog roll in along the Clinch River in the middle of our session. Michael and Heather were a joy to work with and I can’t wait for their wedding day!” – John Shim Photography
“I have actually looked for wedding photographers for years. Pictures are one of the most important elements to me because they are one thing that last forever. Before I was engaged, I saw my friends pictures and thought that they were amazing, so I had John in mind already when we got engaged. To compare prices, I contacted several different photographers and I was SO thrilled when I found out that in addition to being my favorite, he was also the most reasonably priced! I also saw more of his amazing work when I was searching a site for our wedding venue. I found this beautiful barn in GA and funny enough, most of the pictures that they featured were from a wedding John shot. It must have been fate because that is also where we have chosen to have our wedding, and the owners couldn’t stop singing his praises when they found out who our photographer was!
..I hired an amazing wedding planner, Jennifer Laraia, and she has added some DIY touches to our design plan like torn fabric strips for our programs and chairs and a stamped monogram table cloth for the head table. We are also going to make a little banner for our son to carry down the aisle that says, “Here comes my Mommy” as well as making up our signature drink!
..The thing I am definitely looking most forward to about our wedding is sharing a last name with my fiancee and our son! Besides that, we are having a Barn wedding and I am really excited about some of the more unique elements we are adding in. I don’t want to give too many things away before the wedding but my wedding planner found an AWESOME unfrosted cake with strawberries that I am in love with, and I am not much of a fan of cake, but I can’t WAIT to try this one! We are also planning on having a moonshine bar for our wedding favor where guests can flavor their own jar of ‘shine!
***We were SO incredibly lucky that the woman who did my makeup, Suzanne Clayton, offered up her farm for us to use for our engagement pictures. We went four wheeling on our first date so I really wanted to include that somehow into our engagement setting, and her farm offered plenty of space to ride, as well as plenty of gorgeous spots to shoot! I got my dress at an awesome little boutique in Turkey Creek called Tula Boutique. The owner provided such amazing service, I couldn’t recommend her enough. When I went in she didn’t have anything out on the floor that caught my eye, but when I told her what I was looking for she told me she had just gone to market and brought several gorgeous dresses out for me to try on that this one was exactly what I was looking for!” -Heather, the bride-to-be
