“Sarah is a Colorado girl at heart. Attending school to study art in fabulous New York City is where she met and fell in love with Ryan, a guy from Long Island. What will be 8 years later, they’re heading to Colorado in August to tie the knot! They love Manhattan, and spent many poor college student dates sitting in the MET staring at each other… I mean, the beautiful art, of course.” – Amanda Lamb Photography
Amanda Lamb was actually my sisters wedding photographer. When I saw the amazing photos she took of my sister and her now husband – I knew she was right for us as well. It wasn’t until I met her on the day of my sisters wedding that I realized how truly special she is. She brought out the best qualities in everyone that day, keeping my beautifully nervous sister calm and keeping her laughing and smiling the entire day. I currently live in NYC which is where I met my best friend and love of my life Ryan. We went to art school together here in the heart of Manhattan. Amanda, along with my entire family live in Colorado, which is where we will be getting hitched – as an ode to my family and almost a farewell to my home there in Colorado. I wanted to incorporate New York in my wedding so when Amanda pitched the idea of flying out here to shoot our engagement photos I was completely over the moon!
As an artist I plan to have a lot of DIY projects in our wedding! My colors are bright pinks, peach, emerald green and sage. For me, the overall idea for our wedding is to pack it full of color and whimsical fun. I’m going to be making an aisle runner from tall birch tree branches cemented in iron buckets and the top of the trees will have ombre colored streamers that lead to the arch that we will be married under. Our venue is an amazing barn that runs along the foothills of the Colorado mountains, so I will be incorporating my love for horses and livestock throughout. Each table will have ombre floral arrangements with brightly colored raniculous and greenery accompanied by horse figurines – partially painted with gold and glittery gold paint. There are all sorts of different aspects of our wedding that we will be doing ourselves, since we are both artists it’s only natural to create the details. We both created our engagement party invites as well as our save the dates, which we had a blast creating!
Of all the wedding planning I would say what I’m most excited about the day we get on that plane to head home from our wedding… and arrive back in NY as Mr & Mrs Durinick!
