Happy Monday! I’m so happy to share the gorgeous wedding of Bridgette and Asher with you today! They tied the knot in beautiful downtown Charleston, South Carolina at the historic St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and after the ceremony the newlyweds along with their bridal party paraded a few blocks to the reception venue, McCrady’s. Sweetgrass Social Event and Design is responsible for all the amazing details below, including the dozens of mason jars hanging from the exposed beam ceiling. After dancing the night away, Bridgette and Asher left through a tunnel of sparklers and were whisked away in a pedicab to a surprise honeymoon location! Make sure to read the brides great wedding advice below…

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

My favorite part of our wedding day of course has to be walking down the aisle and seeing my groom for the first time. We decided not to the do the first look, and we are so glad that we had! It was an emotional experience I’ll never forget it. My 2nd favorite part of the wedding day would be the reception! We both enjoyed seeing all of our friends and family having a great time celebrating our big day! The band was absolutely amazing and kept everyone on their feet. The flowers and decor was beautiful and everything I could have imagined. The food was to die for and Charleston in September… you can’t ask for anything better. Of course having the mascot of my Alma Mater there wasn’t too bad either, I had kept Cocky’s appearance a secret from EVERYONE! Nobody knew he was going to show up, so as you can see in some of the pictures, we caught some pretty surprised faces! It was a perfect of a day as I could have imagined…

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

My advice for current brides would be to take a step back and just breathe! Planning anything is stressful, so just take a step back and remember your planning for a celebration. Don’t let it overwhelm you, because at the end of the day if there are 500 people or 5 people at your wedding, you are still marrying your sweetheart and that’s all that matters. We were blessed to have actually decided on having a long engagement. We were engaged for 1 year and 4 months before our wedding date which gave us so much time to plan ahead. A huge advantage to long engagements are that you can book amazing vendors so far in advance you don’t have to worry about the dates being taken. We were able to email all the vendors that we really wanted to see which dates they were available, and so from there is where we decided on our wedding date! Instead of picking a wedding date and then trying to find vendors! It was so helpful. But decide what is important to you! If you want great photos or a great band, and book that first, and the rest will come! Also last tip, I went against tradition, and I shopped for my dress ALONE. It was the best decision I ever made! – Bridgette
