I can just imagine a darling coffee bar complete with these DIY chocolate covered spoons! This project is easy and fun… and will add a huge pop of color to any type of dessert bar. Or you could give them as favors and wrap them up in cute little bags!

SUPPLIES // heavy duty plastic spoons, two candy melts in your desired flavors – these come in many, many colors and flavors, sprinkles or sanding sugar for decoration (I used a sugar grinder from Trader Joe’s with sugar, chocolate, and coffee bean pieces), a bowl or mason jar and wax paper.

Start by melting down your chocolates. I did mine the old fashioned way in a glass bowl over a pan with boiling water, stirring until smooth. You can also melt them in the microwave… the melting directions will be on the back of your candy melts bag. I put my warm chocolate into a glass mason jar because it was easy, but you can use any bowl. Cover a baking sheet or your counter with wax paper… now you are ready to dip! With your spoon tilted to one side, simply dip your spoon into the warm chocolate, and repeat!

Once you lift the spoon out of the jar, give it a few taps on the edge of the glass to remove excess chocolate. Then flip the spoon over to get the trail of chocolate to wrap around the back. Place on the wax paper to dry.

Dip, dip… dip!

Once the white chocolate is dry, it’s time to dip the other side of the spoon in dark chocolate! Dip the spoon on the opposite side into the dark chocolate – this needs to be done quickly. When the white chocolate part of the spoon is in the warm dark chocolate – it will re-melt!

So cute! Make sure the color of your spoon looks cute with the color of chocolate you pick.

Next, the sanding sugar. *Very Important* While the dark chocolate is still hot, dust the sanding sugar over it – or grind yours like me. We only want the sugar to stick to the dark chocolate.

Then pick up each spoon and tilt the excess sugar towards the warm chocolate…

So easy and just adorable! The perfect addition to any coffee bar!
