I was never the type of girl who had been dreaming of her wedding day since she was five years old. I have five younger brothers and make comic books for a living – I was never the “princess type”, and I enjoyed being different. So when the most amazing man asked me to marry him, we both knew we wanted a celebration that wasn’t frilly or covered in taffeta and pink – a wedding where every part of it was a combination of who we were as individuals and as a couple, our engagement party featured a suckling pig, which was a great way to kick off the planning…

Both of us are transplants from the country to the city, and immediately knew we wanted our friends and family to join us in New York. Budget conscious, we hit the ground running and found the most beautiful venue, right in Brooklyn. A spectacular garden in the center of a city – how perfect. Through creative research and careful planning, we were able to make each aspect of our wedding unique to us, right down to the Star Trek and Star Wars themed cake topper. Our wedding was absolutely an amazing way to celebrate the love we have for one another with the love of our family and friends in the nerdiest way we knew how – by just being ourselves!” – Katie, the bride
